If you know someone who is a senior homeowner who has limited income, let them know about the property tax exemptions they may qualify for.
King County
✔Age/Disability: 62+ years old, retired due to disability, or a veteran with 80%+service-connected disability (or receiving 100% VA compensation).
✔Ownership: Own home as of Dec 31 of prior year & live in it 6+ months per year.
✔Income: Household income ≤ $84,000 (including Social Security).
✔Exemption Benefits: Freezes assessed value, exempts excess levies & Part 2 of state school levy. Additional exemptions may apply.
Snohomish County
✔Age/Disability: 61+ years old, unable to work due to disability, or a veteran with 80%+ service-connected disability (or receiving 100% VA compensation).
✔Ownership: Own & occupy home as primary residence by Dec 31 of assessment year.
✔Income: ≤ $75,000 (after deducting medical, dental & vision costs).
✔Exemption Benefits: May freeze assessed value & exempt certain levies based onincome.
How to Apply
Documents Needed: Proof of age/disability, income, ownership & occupancy.
Submit Application: Online or by mail via County Assessor’s Office.
